Makes 6

2 cups flour
1 Tbsp Royal Baking Powder
¼ tsp salt
80 g margarine
¾ cup milk
1 egg beaten for glazing

Sift flour, Royal baking Powder and salt together. Rub in margarine with fingertips until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add milk gradually to dry ingredients and mix lightly to a soft dough. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface then cut out rounds with a cookie cutter.
Place on a greased tray and brush with the egg. Bake at 200ºC for 20 minutes. Turn out onto a wire rack and cool.
Serve with jam and cream
